PLAYERS: Chip Kelly
TEAMS: Oregon Ducks
According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti says that it’s “inevitable” that current Ducks head coach Chip Kelly will one day leave to coach in the NFL. “There are nine chances in 10 if he wins out [this season] he’s gone,” said another source who did not want to be identified. Kelly showed interest in coaching the Buccaneers last offseason, but ended up deciding to head back to Oregon. “It’s just inevitable that he will eventually be in the NFL,” Bellotti said. “Chip is one of the ultimate competitors and he sees that. It actually surprised me he changed his mind [with the Bucs] last year. “Whether they get to the national championship and whether they win the national championship, I don’t know. To think he’ll stay there when ultimately his idea of top jobs is to get to the Super Bowl, it won’t happen, unfortunately, at the college level.” I get the feeling that Kelly won’t be ready to head to the NFL until he wins a National Championship.  He could also get impatient and end up giving the NFL a chance no matter if he wins a title at Oregon or not.  Either way, it does seem like he’ll  be bound for the pros sooner or later.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";
