While his time with the South Florida Bulls did not translate into the same expected level of success that he had coaching the East Carolina Pirates, Skip Holtz has quickly landed on his feet. On Thursday, Holtz accepted the head coaching position with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Holtz replaces Sonny Dykes, who, after leading the Bulldogs to a 9-3 record in 2012, left to take the head coaching job with the California Golden Bears. The 2012 college football coaching carousel continues. The Bulls expected big things this past season, especially after their bowl appearance in 2011, but it was not meant to be in South Florida. Picked to finish second in the preseason poll behind only the Louisville Cardinals, the Bulls went 3-9 this season, including just 1-6 in conference play.
