BCS National Championship: Notre Dame vs. AlabamaNotre Dame is just one game away from running the table, including wins over #13 Oklahoma, #19 Michigan, Michigan State, and possibly USC. The Trojans starting QB Matt Barkley will not play due to an injury, but that does not lessen the significance of the game for the Fighting Irish; a win will mean a BCS title birth. It did not take long for Alabama to return to the National Championship conversation, as they are the new #2 team in the BCS. A victory over an abysmal Auburn squad in the Iron Bowl and a win in the SEC title game is all that stands in the way of Alabama’s second consecutive BCS title appearanceRose Bowl: Nebraska vs. StanfordAssuming Nebraska can get past a road test in Iowa (4-7, 2-5), they will likely play Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game. The Rose Bowl would be inclined to take the Huskers (9-2, 6-1) because of the relationship they have with the Big 10. With Stanford’s win over Oregon on Saturday, the Cardinal now owns the tiebreaker over the Ducks for the right to play UCLA in the Pac-12 championship game. Only one thing stands in their way: a home game against the #17 Bruins.  Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. OklahomaWith the chaos that took place in the BCS on Saturday, few noticed that the Georgia Bulldogs have crept up to #3 in the BCS. Georgia has just one win against a ranked opponent this season, but #4 Florida remembers it well. That win over the Gators could be what gets them an at-large bid over a Florida team, who would be left out of the BCS due to the limit on participants per conference. Oklahoma snuck out of West Virginia last week with a 50-49 win, despite giving up nearly 800 yards of total offense. Still, the Sooners only two losses on the season have come to this week’s #1 (Notre Dame) and last week’s #1 (Kansas State). Oklahoma should be able to seal a BCS birth with wins over #21 Oklahoma State and a dangerous TCU squad on the road.Orange: Florida State vs. RutgersIf everything goes as planned, Rutgers will play Louisville at home for the right to be named Big East champions. Even though Louisville has been dazzling at times this season, Rutgers should be able to pull out the win at home. Florida State does have a tough match-up with #4 Florida this week but, since it is a non-conference game, that will not affect the team’s chances of winning the ACC and earning an automatic BCS bowl bid.Fiesta: Kansas State vs. OregonKansas State’s brutal loss to Baylor last Saturday dropped them to #6 in the BCS, likely relegating them to the Fiesta Bowl. But beware: A loss to #16 Texas in two weeks could hand the Sooners a Big 12 title and knock the Wildcats out of the BCS altogether.  Oregon’s heartbreaking loss to the Stanford Cardinal dropped them to #5 in the BCS and likely out of the national championship picture. The Ducks still have to play their Civil War rivalry game at Oregon State in order to solidify their spot in a BCS bowl.
