The BCS poll has taken a ton of heat over the years, always from teams who feel they were unjustly 'left out'.College football's recent approval of a four-team playoff system is good news for teams at the top, but as usual, even this has its share of detractors.Kansas State, Oregon and Notre Dame are all currently 10-0 on the year, and are ranked in one-two-three order as written.Brian Kelly, head coach of Notre Dame and former politician, has openly campaigned recently on behalf of his football team.Kelly needs to realize that his tactics will do him and his team more harm than good in the long run. While the percentages used in determining placement of teams on the BCS poll, there still is a human element. In the meantime, the weekly BCS Polls still continue to exist, I've sorted out my winners and losers below:The Top Ten    No. 6 Ohio State is getting shafted by being placed so low. The Buckeyes should be at least riding the coattails of Notre Dame, as they are as unbeaten as the top three.Say what you will about "strength of opponent", "points scored" blah, blah, spare me. Unbeaten is unbeaten, okay? Ohio State instead is behind the 9-1 Bulldogs of Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide? Bogus.About that Alabama team, now that I'm on the subject. They dropped to No. 4 following their upset loss to (then) No. 15 Texas A&M this past Saturday. Only four spots? They should at least have dropped out of the top five, because everyone was singing their praises and saying they could line up against an NFL team. Then a middle-of-the-pack team comes in and beats them convincingly. Tell me popularity didn't play into that ranking, I need a good laugh.Florida State is No. 10, but behind three teams with one more loss than they have. Texas A&M beat the top ranked Crimson Tide, so okay, put them at No. 9 despite being 8-2. LSU and Florida at No. 8 and 9, though? The Middle Ten    Stanford is in year one, post-Luck, and are not the disaster I'd expected. They are 8-2,  sitting at No. 13, which is maybe too generous. The west does has some fierce competition, so that may be a factor. On the subject of generosity, 7-2 Oklahoma is ranked at No. 12, despite having played just nine games. Ten teams with a lower rank have played more often and seven have more wins. That USC is even in the top 25 is beyond me. At 7-3 and No. 18, perhaps the biggest gift of all.The Last Five   Actually, I'm picking out just one team from this lot, Rutgers. They've lost just once this year, and have consistently been passed over again and again, despite playing way over their heads. Politics, anyone?Perhaps because I'm not on the team of brains who "gets" how the BCS rankings are figured out, I'm taking some of these too logically. Perhaps not. Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
