Louisville head coach Charlie Strong addressed the media at 8 AM this morning to announce that he has turned down the Tennessee job and will remain at the University of Louisville.
Before taking questions Charlie Stream read a 4+ minute prepared statement.
“This was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make,” Strong said. What it all came down to was the loyalty factor that he has with Tom Jurich and the University of Louisville. He went on to discuss some of the great memories he’s had at Louisville in his three seasons. Not just with his program, but celebrating the success of the other Louisville programs.
“We haven’t finished the job here,” says Strong.
Strong said he first spoke to Tennessee on Monday afternoon. He was contacted by a representative from the school on Friday, but didn’t speak directly with anyone from the UT, he says.
