When it comes down to making NCAA football picks, you need as much information as possible. That's why we've compiled the top teams in each major conference heading into the 2012 season.

Once again the top conference in the nation is the SEC, where Alabama and LSU will be battling it out alongside a number of other strong teams.

The SEC does have teams like Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina who could do some damage, but the Crimson Tide and Tigers are easily the two teams to beat still in the Southeast.

As for the Big 12, the powerhouse is clearly Oklahoma.

The Sooners, who are listed at +1000 to win the national championship this season, always bring in stacked recruiting classes. They also have Landry Jones returning for his senior year, so all of Norman is expecting special things.

Out of the best two teams in the Pac 12 (the other being Oregon), the clear favorite is USC, who have Matt Barkley back and a loaded team all over the field. The Trojans are the overall favorites in the college football odds to win the title.

In the Big Ten, there should be a few teams competing for the conference crown

Ohio State has Urban Meyer as their coach now and he should drastically improve the team, while Nebraska, Wisconsin and Michigan State should all be good as well. However, the favorite is Michigan.

The main man for the Wolverines? Denard Robinson, an exciting quarterback who should only get better and better the more he gets comfortable in Brady Hoke's offense.

Our last stop is the ACC and the team on the pedestal there is Florida State. The Seminoles are a popular pick by sportsbooks to compete for a title, listed at +1000 to win the whole thing.
