As South Carolina battles down the stretch in the SEC East, it might have to take on Florida Saturday without its starting quarterback.
Connor Shaw, who sustained a concussion in last Saturday's 44-28 loss to Arkansas, could be out against the Gators, coach Steve Spurrier said Sunday.
The Gamecocks could also be without linebacker DeVonte Holloman, who also has a concussion.
"They will be sort of tested during the week and a decision will be made Wednesday or Thursday, something like that," Spurrier said. "(The medical staff doesn't) want, I don't think, either one of them to practice Monday or Tuesday. They check them as they go through the week and just go from there."
If Shaw is out, redshirt freshman Dylan Thompson, who has attempted two passes this season, would get the start.
The Gamecocks are no longer in control of their own destiny in the SEC East race. South Carolina is a half game behind Georgia.
