Found September 10, 2012 on The Sports Rocker:
I've poked generously at U of Georgia fans over the years. Like any SEC fan base that has high expectations, Georgia fans go crazy when it looks like a down year for the Bulldogs. Last year, the Dawgs opened up with two straight losses to Boise State and South Carolina. They did rally however, and ended up in the SEC title game against LSU.Richt has compiled a 109-38 record at Georgia, including the Bulldogs two wins this season. Georgia thumped Missouri 41-20 in Columbia, MO in what you might as well call a "welcome to the SEC. Enjoy the butt whipping" game.So with such a stellar record, what could possible have Mark Richt on the hot seat in Athens?Crime.Last August, I highlighted how Bulldog players just couldn't stay off the police blotter. DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and sexual battery were just a few of the examples. Now, we can update the list.Sanders Cummings and Chase Vasser were both suspended for the first two games of the 2012 season. Cummings, ...

Richt praises work ethic of Georgia's new mascot

Mark Richt sounded like a mascot coach talking about Georgia's newest Uga. Russ, an 8-year-old bulldog, will be formally introduced as Uga IX during a ceremony Saturday before seventh-ranked Georgia hosts Florida Atlantic. The canine previously served two terms as interim mascot. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, Richt said Tuesday that Russ ''could have gotten bitter...

Georgia Bulldogs: This Ain’t Last Year..or the Year Before

Last night I watched Georgia do something I haven’t seen it do very much over the last couple seasons—win a big football game when they look defeated. The first half of last night’s game against Mizzou—at least from an offensive standpoint—was crappy. Michael Bennett was dropping passes (Michael freaking Bennett was dropping passes), Aaron Murray looked jumpy and out of...

Bulldogs welcome retuning defensive players

After passing an important test, Georgia will try to add to its best start in four seasons during a stretch of three consecutive home games. It will also get a boost this week with the return of at least two defensive players from suspension. With cornerback Sanders Commings and linebacker Chase Vasser available again, the seventh-ranked Bulldogs will try to keep rolling Saturday...

Georgia fans complain that Mizzou fans were too nice

The entire country, at least those above the Mason-Dixon line and west of St. Louis, are pretty much exhausted by the effort of certain SEC fans. The group of fans who cause more eye rolls than anyone else are those of the Georgia Bulldogs. They have a solid football program, but not on the same [...]

Georgia Bulldogs: Popular Pundits Say Bulldogs BCS Hopes Will Hinge on QB Murray

Disclaimer: I don’t usually agree with much of anything Todd McShay or Mel Kiper have to say where football is concerned. That said, the two did offer their opinions on whether or not Georgia has the right stuff to be the next SEC Champion, so I thought it would be interesting to share with my readers.  The discussion: Is Georgia capable of winning a BCS championship? Todd McShay...

Covering Dixie Like Mildew: Auburn, Mark Richt, injuries, and more.

Kiehl-switch Engage.  Chuck Oliver takes Auburn fans to task for their calls to bench Tigers starting quarterback Kiehl Frazier. ( One Hit to the Body. The SEC hands Ole Miss defensive back Trae Elston one game for a "flagrant and dangerous" hit on UTEP wide receiver Jordan Leslie. (ESPN) Avoiding the rush? Mark Richt on the Hot Seat talk, centered...

Georgia Bulldogs: Hello Marlon, It’s Nice to See You Again

Marlon Brown finished last night’s contest with eight receptions, 106 yards, and two touchdowns. It was a performance worthy of more than a little conversation as Brown’s career at Georgia has been, for lack of a better word, inauspicious, at best. The senior receiver signed with Georgia, in 2009. He was a a highly-touted  prospect out of Tennessee (Harding Academy) with...

Young Vols fan sad to be on 'red team'

We seem to be in hot water with the Georgia Bulldogs fan base, so why not keep stoking the fire, right? We came across this clip today, thanks to Dr Saturday. It is of a 4-year-old Tennessee Volunteers fan that becomes so upset when he finds out that he is on the “red team.” The [...]

Did Georgia Bulldogs fan urinate in stands during Georgia/Missouri game? (VIDEO)

Heading into Saturday’s matchup against Georgia as a new member of the SEC, the Missouri Tigers and their fans were pretty geeked up.  Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson trashed talked Georgia by calling their style of play “old man football”.  I’m still not quite sure what that means, but the old man strength prevailed Saturday night as Georgia delivered a heavy...

Mizzou eats their words in loss to Bulldogs

COLUMBIA, Mo. The spurned favorite savored the moment when the lippy newcomer learned what real-man football in the Southeastern Conference is all about. It was seen with Georgia coach Mark Richt shaking his fists while screaming toward a pocket of red in the corner of Memorial Stadium after playing buzzkill to Missouri's historic Saturday. It was seen with quarterback Aaron...

Johnson's excited about his future

Rico Johnson has dreamed about playing for the Georgia Bulldogs and he is seeing that dream play out right now.

On Saturday night, the #7 Georgia Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) defeated the Missouri Tigers (1-1, 0-1) by the final score of 41-20 as the first SEC by the Tigers gets away from them in the 4th quarter.
