If I had to guess, I would imagine that for a diehard Alabama fan, watching the LSU game yesterday was about how I felt watching the 2011 Michigan/Notre Dame game (with less significant implications and more overtimes). As I was watching this SEC matchup last night, I was absolutely stunned that this was the very same LSU team that almost lost to a 2-7 Auburn team earlier this year. LSU was truly on fire. Aside from LSU being on fire, however, Alabama looked like complete garbage. There was no other way to describe it; we haven't seen the Crimson Tide look so weak all year.With about 90 seconds to go, Alabama executed it's 2-minute drill that had every Crimson Tide fan across the state holding their breath. And execute they did: before this last pass for the game-winning touchdown in the video below, AJ McCarron made 3 completions for a total of 44 yards to Kevin Norwood (WR), the clear unsung hero of this game. Without those completions, this magic would never have happened:You see LSU defenders one after the other flying at Yeldon to try and stop him. I saw 3 flinging themselves in different directions. I sat on my couch in awe as I saw Yeldon almost effortlessly dart into the endzone. Flawless execution, incredibly play, & undeniably the greatest one in the 2012 college football season thus far.The TV panned to McCarron as he sat on the bench after the play with his head in his hands and was very emotional. A lot of people were calling him a wuss, etc. because of it, but I can actually appreciate when an athlete is so overwhelmed with an amazing accomplishment that it brings them to tears. Maybe you had to have been a former competitive athlete to understand or empathize with that kind of feeling, but I didn't see one thing wrong with his emotion on national television. He wasn't being overly dramatic, it certainly wasn't unwarranted as he just kept his team's National Championship hopes alive, and it was genuine; there was no Tebow-ness about it (who I absolutely think overdoes his waterworks). A good, genuine, tearful, appearance on TV after something like that is completely justified. And let's be real, I bet there were a whole lot of Alabama fans who almost cried after that touchdown too.Either way, it was an incredible win Nick Saban and Alabama, and while I want to feel bad for LSU because a loss like that has to be absolutely crushing, I definitely don't. ROLL TIDE ROLL.
