Earlier in the year, Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen floated an idea for a four week recruiting dead period during the summer.  During the dead period, recruits would be unable to make unofficial campus visits, and coaches would be unable to contact recruits via phone, text, email, or social media.  It seems that Mullen’s idea has found some support among other SEC coaches. Via the AJC, we get some thoughts from other SEC coaches on Mullen’s idea: LSU’s Les Miles: “You might give them two weeks. You might give them a week off in June, and another one on July that might be a quality ‘dead period’ where you could absolutely not do anything. But I think what happens is that in the summer time, moms and dads get around and they want to go see places.
