Boise State has seen this movie before.
A year ago, kicker Kyle Brotzman lined up for what would be the game-winning field goal against underdog Nevada, shanked it — twice, cost the Broncos a BCS bowl berth and became a local pariah.
This year, new kicker Dan Goodale decided to keep the tradition going.
Trailing TCU 36-35 with 3 seconds remaining, Goodale hooked a 39-yard field goal right and, like Brotzman, stood in disbelief as TCU rushed the field and Boise State's dream season was over.
And Goodale didn't just kind of miss the kick like Brotzman. He epically missed it right as it lame-ducked into the bleachers.
Some — mostly TCU and objective football fans — would say Goodale's missed kick was karma after the Broncos had their final drive extended because of a phantom pass interference call.
