Duke wide receiver Blair Holliday, who has been hospitalized since July 4 when he suffered critical injuries in a jet-ski accident, is expected to be transferred next week to a facility specialized in spinal cord and brain injuries, the school announced in a statement released Saturday. The statement was the first official word on the players health since the accident on North Carolinas Lake Tillery. Hollidays mother said in the statement that Holliday gives fist bumps to teammates and responds with nods when asked questions. God continues to amaze us through Blair each day, said Leslie Holliday, Blairs mother. Glimpses of Blair's personality are emerging. Holliday has been treated at the UNC Trauma Center in Chapel Hill since the accident. The statement said he will be going next to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a rehabilitation hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury and brain injury. Holliday will be admitted to the centers Acquired Brain Injury Unit. We feel blessed that Blair has been given the opportunity to transition to Shepherd, Leslie Holliday said. God has opened so many doors and opportunities for Blair's full recovery. Our family will continue to provide updates related to Blair's condition and ask that you continue to PrayFor8, the statement continued, using a Twitter hashtag. The school also announced a trust endowment titled the Blair Holliday Recovery Trust has been established to assist the family with medical and rehabilitation expenses. Checks made out to "Blair Holliday Recovery Trust may be deposited at any Bank of America nationwide. In addition, checks made out to Blair Holliday Recovery Trust may be mailed to P.O. Box 90559, Durham, NC, 27708, with attention to Peggy Nelson.
