In Mel Kiper Jr’s latest 2014 draft predictions, he predicted Teddy Bridgewater to be picked 2nd overall behind South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney. This included him being picked over Heisman winner Johnny Manziel.
Kiper saying that Bridgewater will be picked over Manziel sparked a lot of debate among the media. Many people agreed that Bridgewater is a better NFL prospect than Manziel…some people didn’t.
Stephen A. Smith has been catching slack from many Louisville fans today about his comments on the rankings. To sum it up, Smith said that he hadn’t seen enough from Bridgewater to say that he is better than Manziel. Which is acceptable considering that Manziel played in the limelight last season while Bridgewater played on a much less media covered team. But Smith had to take it to the next level when he said this about Teddy:
Just from my eye, I saw him two games this year and he won both of them, Cincinnati and Temple. What do ya want, a cookie? I’m just not sold.
For what it’s worth, Jemele Hill was quick to jump to Teddy Bridgewater’s side in the argument. Keep in mind that Hill covers college football while Smith doesn’t even follow it closely. It is obvious that Smith is talking about something that he has no clue about throughout the entire segment.
