Former Auburn tight end Ricky Parks, one of the top recruits at his position coming out of high school. had what can only be described as a troublesome career with the Tigers. After redshirting in 2012, Parks was booted from the program on the first day of fall camp in 2013 for what head coach Malzahn called a “violation of team rules”. He suited up for Northeast Mississippi Community College instead, then transferred back to Auburn for the spring semester. But as the Tigers are gearing up for the start of the 2014 campaign, Parks, again, won’t be with the program for undisclosed reasons. Friday night, Parks took a shot at his former coaching staff, implying that there is a double standard when it comes to punishment. Earlier in the night, it was reported that Auburn starting quarterback Nick Marshall had been cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Georgia. Parks, clearly salty about the way he was treated in his time at the school, sarcastically commented about Gus Malzahn’s “zero tolerance policy”. It seems like he doubts that Marshall will face the same penalty he did. Parks later deleted the tweet, but many users took screenshots. Ricky Parks was kicked off Auburn’s team for having some weed… pic.twitter.com/jRXJoP1FS0 — Bandit (@banditref) July 12, 2014 Malzahn commented on Marshall’s citation this morning, but didn’t say much other than he is “disappointed” in his star signal-caller. There is obviously a lot more to Parks’ story that hasn’t been told here, but it’s clear that he’s not happy with the way things ended for him at the school.
