Bene Benwikere Twitter Page San Jose State Spartans won a barn burner against Colorado State in Fort Collins as they beat the Rams 34-27. In typical Spartans fashion, quarterback David Fales led the Spartans to victory with 431 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. After a disastrous 1-3 start, the Spartans have now pushed their record to 3-3 and put themselves into position to make it to a bowl game once again this season. It looks like the Spartans might have found their future star in freshman running back Jarrod Lawson. The 5’8 190 pound Jarrod “Pinball” Lawson was nearly impossible to stop as he bounced off Rams’ defenders. The San Jose native Lawson rushed for 98 yards and had 104 yards receiving, which included an 83 yard touchdown catch. With David Fales set to leave at the end of the season, Lawson could be the next San Jose Superstar to light up Spartan Stadium. Quarterback David Fales looked like his old-self as he threw the ball all over the hapless Rams defense. Today’s performance was probably Fales best game under new head coach Ron Caragher. While Fales found his favorite receiver Chandler Jones 5 times for 96 yards, it was freshman Tyler Winston who had another huge game for the Spartans. Winston showed that last week’s performance against Hawaii was no fluke as he had 8 receptions for 151 yards. Star cornerback Bene Benwikere played in his first game since his scary injury to Utah St. Benwikere did not skip-a-beat as he looked like the best player on the football field today. Not only did Benwikere knock down everything throw his way but he also got a key interception in the 4th quarter. San Jose State is now 3-3 with 6 games left in the season. They have 4 out of the next 6 games at home which makes it easier for the Spartans to make a bowl game this season. We might have seen the changing of the guard today as Jarrod Lawson and Tyler Winston might have set themselves up the be the stars of the future for the young San Jose State Spartans.   You can follow Jorge on twitter @jraycontreras or add him to your network on google Jorge is the co-founder of  Football and Futbol , Bay Sports Report , Cascadia Sports , Sports Report So Cal and Sports Report Arizona
