A cold, wet snowy day at College Park was made all the more miserable for the Maryland faithful as the Terps dropped their fourth straight game of the season, falling 28-17 to the Eagles of Boston College.

The defense again proved to be the Terps’ (2-6) undoing, despite the return of weak-side linebacker Darin Drakeford. Boston College (2-6) ran right at the patchwork front seven of Maryland, grinding out 372 total rushing yards on the day. Eagles running back Rolandan Finch had a carrier day, churning out 243 yards rushing and two scores.

The real story of the game was Maryland’s inability to take advantage of three Boston College turnovers. Three fumbles and an interception resulted in zero points for the Terrapins offense now ranked 86 in the FBS in total points with 175. The Terps also squandered great field position, with drives starting from there own 40 and 47 yard line ending in a interception and a punt, respectively.

It was another unimpressive day over all on offense for the Terrapins, who went three quarters before scoring their first touchdown against the 62nd ranked scoring offense in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Quarterbacks Danny O’Brien and C.J. Brown combined for only 179 yards passing for the game, albeit in some harsh weather conditions. Head coach Randy Edsall again made an in-game change at quarterback, sending in O’Brien early in the second quarter after Brown had gone 2-6 for 14 yards passing with an interception and only 18 yards rushing.

A home matchup against the 5-3 Virginia Cavaliers awaits the Terps next week.
