With first week of fall camp in the books for Charlie Strong and the Louisville football program, let’s take a look at five newcomers who have an opportunity to play right away. In Charlie Strong’s first two years with the program, it wasn’t tough for guys to play right away, considering they were a lot more talented than most of the Kragthorpe leftovers. However, now that Charlie Strong has a full roster of players that he has recruited, there is a lot more depth and not as big of an opportunity to play right away. Here are the five players that could make an impact in their first year. James Quick, 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, wide receiver: Wide receiver is probably the position that the Cards have the most depth at. However, James Quick is simply too talented to not see the field. Shawn Watson spoke glowingly about Quick at media day last week and says he has a leg up on the other fres...

With Lousiville in its last year in the Big East, I mean American Athletic Conference, the school has had an issue when it comes to out-of-conference scheduling. UofL disallows autographs on fan day; some thoughts

Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, I agree with everything the University of Louisville athletic department does. Between the success of the teams, both academically and athletically, and profitability of the department as a whole, I have to really try hard to find fault in the decisions they make. However, when it comes to disallowing autographs on the football team’s fan day...
