First things first, I'll own this one.

I was one of the legion of writers that had Ol Rocky Top sending the Gators packing with their first loss at the hands of the Vols in eight years.  I bought the hype, the Florida 'downfall', and the orange pants (for the record, I have not actually purchased those pants).

I still claim that the jury is still out on Florida.

True, that was some impressive second halfering in Knoxville and another one two weeks earlier in College Station.  But let's all remember that A&M has listed blowing giant leads in the second half over the past few seasons on their resume under "hobbies and interests".  Ask Oklahoma State and Arkansas last year.  That's just kind of how the Aggies go about things of late.

Tennessee?  Same boat (when they manage to get a lead).  This jury (by the way) should come to a decision in late October with back-to-back games vs. South Carolina and Georgia.

What happened?  I'm with the 100,000+ at Tennessee's Neyland Stadium.  I'm still not sure.  Tennessee was in control with a lead at halftime.  Florida was stopped on a mid-field fake punt in the third quarter and you could almost hear the crowd making post game celebration plans.  The Vols were up 20-13 and driving.  But Florida stiffened, stopped any progress, and went on to rattle off 24 unanswered points to post a 37-20 final.

Tennessee quarterback, Tyler Bray threw two interceptions and confused looks from the Vol defense littered the second half.  You can look hard and see progress for Tennessee.  But you've got to look pretty hard.  At this point in his tenure however, Tennessee needs to see some high profile wins. You've got to wonder how long the Derek Dooley supporters will listen to the Obama "it was a mess when we got here" argument.
