Gus Malzahn isn't shy about giving players a second chance.
Former Georgia safety Tray Matthews announced his intention to transfer to Auburn on Saturday, making Matthews the second major SEC transfer of this offseason to land on the Plains.
Matthews, who was dismissed by Georgia coach Mark Richt after a classroom incident earlier this month, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Athens Banner-Herald, took only 11 days to commit to Auburn, a finalist for the former five-star recruit when he initially chose Georgia.
He will have to sit out a year after transferring before being eligible to play in 2015. Matthews started six games at Georgia as a redshirt freshman and made 36 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.
