National Signing Day is Wednesday and high school kids everywhere will be signing the next three, four or five years of their life away to schools across the nation.  Former Mississippi State wide receiver Chad Bumphis took it upon himself to educate the recruits among his 11,000+ followers. On Twitter, Bumphis, who hauled in 58 passes for 922 yards and 12 scores in 2012 for Mississippi State, specifically steered his advice to the individuals who will be faxing their binding letters of intent Wednesday. Don’t take the money, kids. What a novel idea. After all, you might get your wrist slapped like Reggie Bush did. Despite the sage counselling, it’s hard to believe that Bumphis is actually concerned with high school kids he doesn’t know. More likely, he’s trying to steer kids away from the Bulldogs’ rival, Ole Miss. After all, Ole Miss is widely expected to land the nation’s #1 recruit, defensive end Robert Nkemdiche from Georgia.  Ole Miss currently holds the 11th-best recruiting class according to Rivals. And judging by Bumphis’ later tweet, that’s exactly what he was doing.   It’s gamesmanship, people.  And that’s part of what makes college football so grand.  Fall practice starts in about six months.
