Florida’s Trey Burton hasn’t been the starter for the Gators for the last two games, but Saturday night he proved why the Gators need him more than ever.
Out of his three touches on Saturday, two went for touchdowns. Burton’s three carries totaled 91 yards. Not only that, Burton lined up and caught two passes for 38 yards.

Once the decision was made on a starting quarterback, things were going to be easier. But not easy. Florida’s Jeff Driskel was named the starting quarterback after game one of the season and it meant he had to go on the road into hostile environments in both of his first starts. There have been some bumps and bruises, but Driskel has come on and looked the part. The test continues Saturday.
Coming into Saturday’s early SEC showdown between Florida and Tennessee, the story of the game was if Florida’s talented defense could stop Tyler Bray, the Volunteers’ mercurial gunslinger. In the second half, a clear victor emerged.

If there was play that opened up the floodgates for Florida’s 37 points of offense on Saturday it was the well-drawn up and executed 80 yard run by then ‘wildcat’ quarterback Trey Burton. Burton had already run for one touchdown earlier in the game, but that one set the tone for the Gators’ big finish.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Florida ran away from Tennessee to run its winning streak against the Volunteers to eight straight games. Jeff Driskel threw a pair of touchdown passes and Trey Burton rushed for two more scores as the 18th-ranked Gators scored the final 24 points to beat the No. 23 Vols 37-20 on Saturday night.
The Florida Gators have moved up to No. 14 in both major polls. The Gators can attribute the move to a second half against the Tennessee Volunteers that was a thing of beauty. Starting the season at No. 23, the Gators have showed enough improvement over the first three games to warrant a top-15 ranking by the voters. Is this rise a sign of things to come? Or simply a matter of an...
Another win, another new feature at TBG. Its name is, of course, inspired by our quarterback Jeff Driskel and Sports Illustrated’s Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback, which discusses a plethora of topics concerning the week’s NFL games. We hope to do something similar–but on a minor, more pertaining to us level (Don’t worry, it won’t be nearly as long.) Let me know...
The Gators are now a perfect 3-0 and leave Knoxville victorious after a 37-20 victory over the Volunteers. Quarterback Jeff Driskel put on a strong performance and seemed to solidify that he's the man for the job. The Gators came back from a halftime deficit with the offense firing on all cylinders to take the win.
Check out the video. Florida Gators running back Trey Burton broke through and poured it on for an incredible 80-yard run down the sidelines for a touchdown against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Gators trailed the Vols late in the third quarter. But the 6-3, 228-pound Burton put the Gators back in the game.
The Florida Gators defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 37-20 on Saturday night after putting together a near perfect second half. I’ll get into the game as a whole, but first, a new feature I call What I Wrote at the Half. (Everything in italics was written at the half without any knowledge of the final 30 minutes. No, I can’t predict the future.)
The offense might not destroy...
The Florida Gators travel to Knoxville, TN to face the Tennessee Volunteers in a rivalry game with few equals for either on the schedule. It’s hate week for both; the first week of the college football season in which the beautiful and the ugly come out from both fanbases. Sure, the Gators and Vols have both played two games early in the 2012 college football season, but take a...
