The number 4 Florida Gators weren’t sure they would have their starting quarterback in time for the trip to face number 10 Florida State this weekend, but according to coach Will Muschamp, Jeff Driskel will play in the game for the Gators.
“Jeff Driskel will play in the game,” Muschamp said. “What will be his percentage I don’t know right now. We will not practice him today but he will practice tomorrow. He probably could practice today but in talking with (trainer) Anthony Pass we felt like it would be best for him to have treatment today.”
Driskel was injured against Louisiana-Lafayette two weeks ago and missed the game against Jacksonville State, which obviously was the best game of the season to miss.
With Driskel, the Gators chances at an outside shot at the BCS championship game remain intact.

Now that Derek Dooley has been fired from Tennessee, the hiring search has begun. I recently attended scout day for the University of Florida and while the Gators still have a lot of talent on campus, they lost some major talent in the 2012 draft. Between departing upperclassmen and recruits that signed out of high school, the Gators lost 11 players in the top three rounds of the draft (Michael Zunino, Lance McCullers, Lewis Brinson, Brian Johnson, Nolan Fontana...
The Florida Gators are used to playing tough competition. They have played and beaten more teams in the BCS top twelve than any other in the country. So, when they are on the road this Saturday against Florida State, don’t expect them to treat this game any different than all the rest. Senior Omar Hunter says there is no pressure, they just want to compete again.
The Gators allowed 95 total yards to Florida State last year with just 30 of those coming on the ground. However, they still lost. The defensive performance was dominant, as the Seminoles returned an interception for a touchdown and started two drives inside the Florida 20-yard line because of other interceptions. The Florida defense is hoping to replicate its strong performance on Saturday.
Florida believes it will benefit from facing a physical opponent in its most recent game, but it might have to battle some fatigue in its next one.
The seventh-ranked Gators will have a short turnaround before Tuesday night's matchup with a visiting Savannah State team that's been competitive in each of its games.

You hear that sound? That’s the sound of a deep sigh of relief coming from Blue Raider fans. After two very sloppy road outings against MEAC favorite Savannah State and the 10th ranked Florida Gators, Tuesday night, Kermit Davis’ team played the way we expected to see them perform this season.
