Fox Sports Florida:
Florida junior defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy earned the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor for his performance in the 30-10 win over Arkansas, the league office announced Monday.
Purifoy, a Pensacola native, had the best game of his career, highlighted by returning his first career interception for a touchdown that gave Florida a lead that it never relinquished. He also recorded four tackles, including the first sack of his career, three pass breakups and a forced fumble against the Razorbacks. Purifoy was also key in assisting the Gator defense in notching two sacks against an Arkansas offense that was allowing just 0.6 sacks per game. He also returned two punts for 17 yards.
For his performance against Arkansas, Purifoy was also named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week, a Paul Horning Award Honoree and a College Football Performance Award Defensive Performer of the Week.

This rivalry between founding members of the SEC has gone back and forth recently with each team winning six of the last twelve games. Florida has won three of the last five but LSU has won two of the last three. LSU has won three of the last four in Baton Rouge. This has...
The Florida Gators (4-1, 3-0 SEC) overcame a slow start to beat the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-3, 0-2) 30-10 on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Behind career days from wide receiver Solomon Patton and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy the Gators were able to turn things around after falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter.
Patton finished the game with six catches for a career-high 124...

Perhaps overlooked in the Florida Gators win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday night, due to big performances from wide receiver Solomon Patton and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy, was the career day from redshirt junior quarterback Tyler Murphy.
Making just the second start of his collegiate career, since the season-ending injury to...
There aren’t many positive memories for Ronald Powell when he thinks about Florida’s last trip to Baton Rouge. He dealt with stingers through the game that kept him off the field with his teammates. On the field, the outcome wasn’t much more enjoyable for the Gators. Florida suffered a 41-11 loss in the first career start for quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Florida junior linebacker Michael Taylor weighs in on the team performance as well as his individual performance after the Gators' 30-10 victory over Arkansas.
He’s playing a more physical brand of football since his move to safety. Florida senior Jaylen Watkins is noticeably more aggressive in his play on the field and you can it in his tackling and the way he races to the ball when an offensive guy breaks the line of scrimmage. That aggressiveness got him in a bit of hot water Saturday, but he finished the game strong as did the rest of the defense.
There were multiple times in his career that Solomon Patton could have transferred. He wasn’t getting snaps early in his career and was only used in the offense on jet sweeps and screens. He rarely touched the ball, especially when he got down the field. But he didn’t want to leave Gainesville. Patton worked hard in the offseason and turned himself into a trusted member of the Florida offense.
While the rest of the SEC is busy piling up the points against one another, the Florida Gators' defense has remained as dominant as ever.

The Florida basketball program will host media day on Wednesday before starting practice on October 11. The Gators will try to find a new identity after losing three starters from last season in Kenny Boynton, Erik Murphy and Mike Rosario to graduation, but there are plenty of questions that surround the team as the start of practice gets closer.
