If there was a repellent to buy for the injury bug, Gators coach
Will Muschamp would stock up. Muschamp announced Monday that
sophomore running back Matt Jones, who is averaging a team-high
67.8 yards per game, is out for the year with a knee injury.

Less than a month after losing starting QB Jeff Driskel to a broken leg and DT Dominique Easley to a knee injury the Florida Gators are adding another tent to the M.A.S.H. unit. Sophomore RB Matt Jones, who overcame an offseason infection and early season bout with fumbleitis to win the Gators starting job, was sidelined with a knee injury during Saturday's loss to LSU. Jones...
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Will Muschamp couldn't recall going through a season like this one.

Florida head coach Will Muschamp wasn’t concerned about the status of running back Matt Jones on Saturday after his knee injury against LSU. The Gators didn’t expect it to be serious, but that changed when the team returned to Gainesville. Muschamp announced on Monday that Jones will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn meniscus.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A week after changing place-kickers, No. 22 Florida is switching punters.
And it means benching a 2012 finalist for the Ray Guy Award.
Coach Will Muschamp announced Monday he's replacing punter Kyle Christy, a preseason All-American, with freshman Johnny Townsend.
Christy has punted 21 times for a 39.6-yard average, which ranks 13th in the Southeastern...
The title said it: Another Florida star is done for the season. Much to Will Muschamp's frustration, No.1 running back Matt Jones is out for the year with a torn meniscus. That adds to the season-ending injuries to QB Jeff Driskel, Dominique Easley, offensive linesman Chaz Green and wide receiver/punt return specialist Andre Dubose. Muschamp said: "It is what it is. I don...
Florida State moved into the top 5 and Miami leaped into the top 10 of the Associated Press poll on Sunday afternoon.

The punter job seemed to be locked down for the next two seasons. Kyle Christy returned to Florida as a Ray Guy Award finalist and a preseason All-American by numerous publications. On Monday, he lost his job. The junior punter struggled through the first six games of Florida’s season, and freshman punter Johnny Townsend will take the starting job this Saturday at Missouri.
The Florida offense tried to be balanced against LSU on Saturday calling 35 pass plays to 32 run plays in the entire game against the Tigers. Florida opened up the first series calling seven run plays to six pass. First down is a little bit different story with 17 runs versus 7 pass. The Gators were miserable on first down pass success and quarterback Tyler Murphy knows it has to get better.
The Florida Gators struggled on offense on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Totaling 240 yards of offense, the Gators were handed a tough loss to LSU and done so in the style that Florida likes to apply to the teams they play. The LSU Tigers went out of style and ran the ball hard on Florida and shut down what Florida wanted to do offensively.

Florida practiced with just seven players on Monday and Tuesday this week. The Gators knew they would be without guard Eli Carter (leg) and forward Will Yeguete (knee) during the early portions of preseason practice, but the injury list grew on Monday when big man Damontre Harris was held out with a hamstring injury and guard Michael Frazier continues to deal with a virus.
As Florida continues to get a couple of guys healthy and back to a full basketball roster, head coach Billy Donovan knows he has some options on the wing. The Gators return forward Casey Prather from last year’s team and also have transfer Dorian Finney-Smith that can play the small forward spot. Guard Michael Frazier also returns with his long range shot. Then there are more options available.
