BC profiled Alabama kicker Jeremy Shelley before the first Game of the Century and the kicking game and you guys laughed at us. “Kicking game, blah, blah, blah,” was all we heard. And then the kicking game became a huge story. It wasn’t necessarily Shelley missing all the important kicks, but guess who’s ass could be on the line tonight? Can you see a little Greg McElroy in Shelley’s girlfriend, Blair?

Yep, that’s Greg’s sister and she was a little pissed after the first game.

Keep in mind that Cade Foster, the big goat in the first game, is still on the roster and is still going to get opportunities tonight.

Via NOLA.com:

Shelley has been accurate this season, making 52 of 53 extra points and 25 of 27 field-goal attempts inside 40 yards.

All of Foster’s attempts have come from 40 yards and beyond. He is 2-of-9, with the 46-yarder against LSU being his career long. But, except for the LSU game, neither has been in situations where the game was on the line.

Alabama special teams coach Bobby Williams said the decision on whether to use Shelley or Foster from borderline distances or whether to punt will depend on game situations and how the two, especially Foster, do in practice.

“If there’s an opportunity to score points, usually we’re going to make that attempt,” Williams said. “We have the utmost confidence in our guys.

Would you really trust your BCS national championship ring on a guy who wears eyeliner for Halloween? Not us.
