Five-star recruit Gunner Kiel from Columbus, IN has backed out of yet another commitment, this time on a much bigger stage. It is being reported that he did not show up to a meeting for January enrollees at LSU and will commit to Notre Dame. SBNation is reporting that he won’t officially announce it until he is enrolled at Notre Dame this week some time. This is just the latest in a saga that began with Kiel verbally committing to his home-state Indiana Hoosiers, de-committing after the Hoosiers were a total disaster in Kevin Wilson’s first year, then announcing he was going to LSU a few days after Christmas. It’s been a hell of a winter for the Kiel family too, as Dusty, Gunner’s older brother, left Indiana after three years in the program.
