In 2011, the fifth-year senior Ifeanyi Momah opened his college season for the BC Eagles with 8 catches for 157 yards -- 171 yards before tearing his ACL in that very game.As a result of the injury, Momah applied to the NCAA for a medical red-shirt, which they declined. He missed out on what could have been a break-out season in his final year as a BC Eagle. Consequently, all 32 teams decided to pass on the injured receiver with a lack of game film. This year, a healthy Momah participated in Boston College's Pro Day. Because of having declared for the draft and going undrafted, he was an unrestricted free-agent.Drill: result (rank as compared to this year's combine numbers for wide receivers)... 40-yd dash: 4.45s (T-10th)Vertical jump: 37.5" (5th)Broad jump: 10'9" (T-5th)3-cone drill: 6.70s (4th)20-yd shuttle: 4.08s (8th)Comparing his numbers to Calvin Johnson's (4.35-40, 42.5" vertical jump, 11"7" broad jump) tells me that he's not quite as explosive. He's two inches taller than Johnson, but weighs about the same. This would, theoretically, mean that he's not quite as strong, either.Harold Carmichael, 6'8"~225-pounds, played for the Eagles for 13 years and one year for the Cowboys in which he played in only two games, making one catch for a mere seven yards (maybe he signed with them to eat up some of their cap space? He certainly didn't do anything else for them). When Carmichael left the Eagles, he was (and still is) the franchise all-time career leader in games played (180), catches (589), receiving yards (8,978), and touchdowns (79).Could Momah be the next Harold Carmichael?Momah is the 13th receiver in a seemingly dismal receiving corps on the Eagles roster. However, at 6'7 and 240-pounds, with those Pro Day numbers he posted, Momah has a leg up on just about every receiver, possibly even tight end, on the roster. Ultimately, his work ethic and ego (or, hopefully, lack-there-of) will determine whether or not he earns a roster spot.At some point during the coming weeks, the Eagles will hold a practice for roster evaluation purposes, as per NFL rules due to having hired a new head coach. Momah's pro day workout impressed the Eagles enough to sign him to a three-year contract, but will he impress Chip Kelly and his coaching staff enough to see the field on game day in the fall? Only time will tell.
