The Fighting Illini football team has a number of receivers on scholarship, but right now there is an absence of experienced depth. With the graduation of record-setter A.J. Jenkins, Darius Millines becomes the top receiver on the squad. He sat out the Spring Game with a minor injury, but that doesn't detract from his potential.

Assistants have been on the road evaluating prospects, and head coach Tim Beckman is traveling around the state with the Illini Caravan. He updates the progress of his team plus gives opinions regarding a college playoff in this report.
The Fighting Illini football coaching staff has been on a recruiting roll recently and is up to nine verbal commitments for the 2013 class. One of the stalwarts of that group is Ohio defensive end Jarrod Clements. Unavailable for an interview at the time of his decision, he is making up for it now.
The Fighting Illini football staff has visited Normal to check out a three-sport star. Randy Heideman is a tall, rangy offensive tackle when he isn't playing baseball or basketball. While the latter may not be in his future college plans, Heideman is uncertain whether to pursue football or baseball beyond high school. It appears he will have choices available to few.
