The Texas Longhorns are starting to put together a who's who list of injured players. And as much as the Longhorns (7-2, 6-0 in Big 12) miss what the injured players have given Texas on the field, the intangibles the injured players provide has also been tough to replace. That's especially the case with the newest Longhorns lost for the season running back Johnathan Gray and defensive lineman Chris Whaley. Both players were injured in the 47-40 overtime win by Texas Saturday at West Virginia. "They're two of our best leaders," Texas head coach Mack Brown said. "They're both very tough. They're emotional. They lead in the dressing room. They lead on the field. They've really helped this team grow up and be tougher and pull together." Brown said because Texas has lost so many team leaders to injuries that he's going to have several travel with the team because of the importance of their leadership to Texas. Texas doesn't have to travel Saturday for its showdown against Oklahoma State (8-1, 5-1 in the Big 12). Like the Longhorns, who have won six-consecutive games, Oklahoma State comes into the game on a roll. The Cowboys have won five straight since losing their Big 12 opener to West Virginia. "This will be a great football team between two teams that are playing really well right now," Brown said. "It hasn't been easy but this team (Texas) has a lot of resolve. They're resilient to injuries, to negativity, to the two losses we had earlier and really what they're doing is trying to win the day and make sure they practice well tomorrow and make sure they play well Saturday. They're fully aware of the next three games we have and how good these teams are. They're excited about the challenge of Oklahoma St. coming in and they're still alive in the race. They're really pumped about that." After early non-conference losses to BYU and Mississippi, Texas has scored at least 30 points in all six of its conference games. The overtime win was a new experience for Brown as it was the first-ever overtime game for the Longhorns.
