Is Gus Malzahn the Next Coach of Arkansas With Bobby Petrino officially shown the door at Arkansas the search for the new coach of the Razorback officially begins. Arkansas is in the middle of their spring practices, so they don’t have much time to stop the bleeding. Following up from our story on Monday the top target for Arkansas will be Gus Malzahn. This isn’t just a hunch it comes from credible sources. The same sources that predicted Petrino’s days were numbered and that AD Jeff Long wanted to fire the coach with cause. All of this came to fruition with Long claiming in Tuesday’s press conference that Petrino thought he was bigger than the program. That tells you all you need to know where Long stood in this manner. photo credit: gulfeast2.com The mainstream media is dismissing Malzahn as the likely hire. Names like Iowa State’s Paul Rhodes and TCU’s Garry Patterson are making the rounds. Don’t expect Patterson to come to Fayettnam anytime soon and Rhodes seems fairly comfortable in Aimes. That leaves one guy who can save the school on some jet fuel if they hire him. Our sources are saying that if offered the job, Malzahn will say yes. He won’t be turning his back at much at Arkansas State as he hasn’t even completed a full spring. It would be like dumping a girl friend in the middle of a movie because you got a text from the prom queen. So will Malzahn be the next coach at Arkansas? The signs are all pointing in that direction. Of course these things can change in a blink and Arkansas can go in another direction. The smart money is on Malzahn, so who’s the sleeper if they don’t pull the trigger? That’s a great question. BeyondU Sports BeyondU Sports - Best College Sports Blog Site
