The status of Texas A&M star quarterback Johnny Manziel for Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt is still unknown at this time. Manziel left with a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of A&M’s 45-41 loss to Auburn last Saturday before later returning. According to a report by the Associated Press, head coach Kevin Sumlin hopes that Manziel will be able to play against the Commodores this weekend:
“I would list him as hopeful,” Sumlin said Tuesday. ”That’s where he is right now.”
Sumlin wouldn’t go into details about the injury but did say that Manziel was wearing a sling as a precautionary measure during Monday’s practice. He said Manziel will continue to receive treatment throughout the week.
For now, the Aggies are preparing to have Manziel at quarterback, but Sumlin also stated that the “rotation of quarterbacks at practice could change depending on how much Manziel is able to participate in the coming days.”
