Since the dismissal of star running back Isaiah Crowell, the Georgia Bulldogs have been wondering who their starting running back would be. Yesterday evening, Mark Richt gave a little in site into who will likely get the starting nod saying that Sophomore running back Ken Malcome was the guy he was leaning towards.

“Something could change between now and then,” Richt said. ”I don’t even know for sure. I’ve not talked to the staff about how we’re going to do it yet, even when we do it, I doubt I’ll announce anything. I don’t want the guys to know. I just want them to keep fighting, keep competing. We’ll tell them the night before the game maybe.”

While Richt was wary to come out and declare the order behind Malcome, Malcome seemed content to be the starter for the Bulldogs.

“I feel like I’m the man now as far as knowing what to do,” Malcome said. “I don’t feel like I have any pressure on me. The coaches don’t say too much to me anymore. They just let me go out there and play. When I do that, I really don’t make mistakes.”

Sounds confident enough, but will he fill the spot that Crowell, SEC frosh of the year, left behind? Doubtful. I’m guessing that while Malcome seems to be content that the spot is his, it’s obviously still up for grabs if he has a hiccup.

Watch your back Mr Confident, there’s always someone who’s about to take your spot.

Malcome likely to start for Georgia

Sophomore Ken Malcome will likely be the starting tailback for No. 6 Georgia in the opener against Buffalo. Coach Mark Richt made the announcement after a closed scrimmage Wednesday, though he still left himself room to change his mind between now and the Sept. 1 game. Richt was vague about the pecking order behind Malcome, saying he wants everyone to keep fighting for a spot right...

Samuel L. Jackson hangs with Bulldogs

Through the years, it hasn’t been all that uncommon to see celebrities pop up on the sidelines of major college football games and practices. Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg were regulars at USC during the Pete Carroll era. Matthew McConaughey, his dimples and Lance Armstrong have been known to Hook ‘Em Horns on the Texas sidelines. And to quote Forrest Gump, Sam Jackson and Georgia...

Mitchell set to play offense, defense for Georgia

Life is good for Malcolm Mitchell as he prepares for a season in which he won't have to choose between offense and defense. Georgia has big plans for the talented sophomore on both sides of the ball. Mitchell was the Bulldogs' second-leading receiver as a freshman, and he'll be a starting cornerback when No. 6 Georgia opens against Buffalo on Sept. 1. Mitchell paused...

Georgia Bulldogs: Kirk Olivadotti Talks Special Teams and James Deloach

Here’s the thing, if Georgia is going to assert themselves in games this season, they are going to have to do a better job of covering punts and kickoffs. Last year they gave up far too many big plays and way too much field position simply by allowing a guy to run it back 30-, 40-, or 50-yards on a punt or kickoff—that cannot happen this season. I suspect, from what I’ve read...

Georgia fan calls recruit to inquire about his commitment

In today’s social media world, it’s not uncommon to hear about the occasional fan or two hitting up the Twitter or Facebook to give a recruit some encouragement about attending their favorite institution. By the same token, people have all but forgotten what a telephone is, how it is useful, and how instantaneous contact can [...]

Georgia Bulldogs: Former QB David Greene, “I like our team. I like our chances”

I love Georgia’s chances to come out of the SEC East, too, with so much drama happening across the division. If it’s not Tennessee losing one of their best wide receivers to abject stupidity, it’s South Carolina’s Connor Shaw experiencing back troubles—and trust me, if this becomes a chronic issue, it will become a factor of interest in at least one or two of South Carolina’s...

The Mutherf*@$!'n truth: Samuel L. Jackson at UGA Practice

Courtesy: @WeRunThisState ((ht: WeRunThisState)) Well, well, well. It appears the University of Georgia had a visitor at practice this week in Sanford Stadium. That visitor appears, at least by the photo, to be none other than Samuel L. Jackson his-ownself. We think the picture, provided by @WeRunThisState (UGA Football's official Twitter account) on Twitter was taken...
