Suddenly, the Kentucky Wildcats football program are daily headline makers…but not for necessarily good reasons. In Joker Phillips weekly teleconference (and bless the man for actually doing one considering the circumstances), he spoke about his being fired, how his players are dealing with it, and what his next step will likely be. My guess is he’s able to latch on as a wide receivers or offensive coach somewhere outside of the SEC as he’s always done a pretty good job developing offensive talent. That said, the list of potential suitors for his former job gets a little longer each day, with Duke head coach David Cutcliffe being the odds on favorite to get first dibs. Cutcliffe has been courted by Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart before—dating back to Cutcliffe’s days at Ole Miss—but at least right now, the interest is one-sided at best as Cutcliffe has utilized the usual tactic of saying he’s happy where he is and isn’t looking to go anywhere else.
