Kirkpatrick has company as Bengals 1st-round CB

Associated Press  |  Last updated April 27, 2012
Dre Kirkpatrick pulled a Bengals cap over his dreadlocks and held up a No. 27 jersey on Friday so the photographers could capture his first day at Paul Brown Stadium. The number six might have been more appropriate. Kirkpatrick is the sixth first-round cornerback on the Bengals roster, an unusual collection of highly regarded talent. The catch is that most of them are either at the end of their careers or have failed to play up to their pick. The Bengals think Kirkpatrick, the 17th overall pick from Alabama on Thursday night, will be worthy of the round and could start quickly. The Bengals welcomed Kirkpatrick and offensive guard Kevin Zeitler on Friday before the second round of the draft began. They took Zeitler with the 27th pick overall.
