Le’Veon Bell has informed Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio that he will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, as first reported MLive’s Diamond Leung Thursday. Bell later confirmed the news via Twitter: As hard as it was to leave spartan nation, it was even harder to pass on such a great opportunity I have in front of me! — LeVeon Bell (@L_Bell24) January 3, 2013 But I love and thank spartan nation for everything! I will always be a Spartan! — LeVeon Bell (@L_Bell24) January 3, 2013 Bell’s mentor, Dave Toler, told Leung that Bell had made the final call on his decision Wednesday. Max DeMara: MSU Fans Should Hold No Ill Will Toward Bell “He’s all in,” (Bell’s mentor Dave) Toler said Thursday, adding Bell has an agent. “I talked to Coach D last night, and it’s tough. Obviously, there are pros and cons, but a young man had to make a choice that’s best for him and his family, so that’s the most important thing. “Upset’s not a good word to use, but he (Dantonio) was taken aback a little bit. He thought he had a good chance of Le’Veon coming back.” Bell’s news comes one day after a report that tight end Dion Sims would enter the 2013 draft as well. While losing Sims would be a blow to MSU’s offense, Bell might be irreplaceable — he accounted for 42 percent of Michigan State’s total yards and nearly half its touchdowns during the 2012 season. ESPN’s Mel Kiper recently listed Bell as the fourth-best junior running back for this draft class, behind North Carolina’s Giovani Bernard, South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore and Alabama’s Eddie Lacy. has Bell as the No. 132 prospect in the draft, with a third-to-fourth round projection.
