Central Michigan (MAC) vs. W. Kentucky (Sun Belt) (-5.5) December 26th 7:30 pm ESPN  So at the beginning of the season, you had high hopes of spending the holidays in Motown. After a 1-4 start, the Chippewas of CMU are no doubt thrilled to be going anywhere, even if it is just down-state to Detroit. CMU had to win their last three games of the season to become bowl eligible in Dan Enos’s third year. He has not been able to duplicate the success of Brian Kelly and Butch Jones before him but he was able to get his team to a bowl game in year 3 after two 3-9 campaigns behind the leadership of senior QB Ryan Radcliff. The Pizza Bowl (formerly Motor City) is to CMU as the Hawaii Bowl is to Hawaii; if they are bowl eligible that is where they are going. WKU seemed headed for big things this year with an upset of cross-state rival Kentucky helping to start the season 5-1 with their only loss to #1 Alabama. Losing 3 out of their next 4 games left them solidly out of contention for the conference title or a more special bowl location. Still, it is the program’s first bowl appearance. In only their 6th season in FBS competition, they have completed their second winning season since coming up from the FCS and since HC Willie Taggart has been on campus in Bowling Green, who has since filled the vacant head coaching job for South Florida after Skip Holtz was fired. What to Expect: It will be interesting to see how many fans for WKU make the trip up I-75 through Snowmagedden 2012. Either way, the Pizza Bowl tends to have the feel of a High School State Championship game, as far as attendance goes, and shouldn’t really affect the outcome here.  The Sun Belt was a step ahead of the MAC this year and WKU was more competitive in conference than CMU. The Hilltoppers are too much for the Chippewas in a snoozer, 31-13. -Doak
