Over the past decade-plus under Frank Beamer, as the program surged to the forefront of the Big East and now the ACC, Virginia Tech has boasted some quality signal-callers.
Starting, of course, with a phenom named Michael Vick in 1999, the Hokies have been led by the likes of Bryan Randall and Tyrod Taylor all three of whom led Beamer's program to a BCS bowl; Vick carried them to the 1999 national title game over the past 15 seasons. Current Hokies quarterback Logan Thomas has run into his share of difficulties in his final two seasons in Blacksburg, but he'll complete his Virginia Tech career having cemented himself among those names.
On Saturday afternoon, Thomas bypassed all of those previous names on the school's all-time list for total offense (career yards):
Logan Thomas: TBD
Tyrod Taylor: 8,719
Bryan Randall: 8,034
Thomas has an opportunity to finish on top of nearly every statistical category for Virginia Tech quarterbacks (outside of wins, for what that...

The opening day loss to top-ranked Alabama was expected.
The midseason loss to Duke was not.
Now Virginia Tech will try to recover from its loss to the Blue Devils when the Hokies travel to Boston College on Saturday. Virginia Tech (6-2, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) had won six in a row and risen to No. 16 in The Associated Press Top 25 before falling 13-10 at home last weekend...
As the game happened I was very skeptical of Addazio's clock management before the half and our seeming lack of adjustments throughout the game. The lack of adjustments -- or long stretches where what worked...
This is a critical game for a variety of reasons but most importantly because we don't have much room for error in our path to a bowl game. Virginia Tech tends to play down to their opponent, which should make this interesting. Leave your thoughts and comments below. You can also follow me on twitter.

Virginia Tech (6-2) will look to bounce back from a loss at the hands of Duke as they play against Boston College. (3-4)

So much for Virginia Tech’s vaunted defense. Boston College, which came painfully close to upsets over both Clemson and Florida State, is all over the Hokies in Chestnut Hill this afternoon. The Eagles have put up 34 points on their ACC counterpart – the most since Alabama scored 35 on the Hokies in the season opener. The latest score came on a 62-yard scamper by Andre Williams...

So much had changed in a year, since the last time Virginia Tech–in an ACC scheduling quirk–had been to Alumni Stadium in a close game with the Eagles. Standing on the sidelines in the final seconds a year ago, newly…Read more →
