It wasn’t the best start, but overall, I think the Louisville football program had a very good afternoon. A 21-point third quarter pushed Charlie Strong and the Cardinals past Pittsburgh 45-35.
Not only did Louisville beat Pitt for the first time since 2007, they scored more points today than they have all season. The senseless penalties and poor special teams play had me concerned at halftime, but the second half was a completely different story. I’m not sure what was said in the locker room at half-time, but I want in on it.
I think Louisville’s defense in the second half was as good as we’ve seen all season. For the first time this year, we saw consistent pressure on the quarterback. Lorenzo Mauldin’s two second half sacks were huge.
Senorise Perry and DeVante Parker stole the show this afternoon for the Louisville offense. Perry had 12 carries for 101 yards and a career high four touchdowns on the day. DeVante had just four catches but finished with 153 yards and a touchdown. I’...
