Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals will travel to Miami, FL. on Sept. 22 for their first road game of the season as they take on the Florida International Panthers. According to UofL football SID Rocco Gasparro, the game will be televised by ESPN3 with the kickoff at 3:30. For those who aren’t familiar with ESPN3, this basically means you will have to watch the game via the internet. Louisville will look to avenge last season’s 24-17 home loss to FIU. The Panthers are currently 1-1 on the season. They lost to Duke in week one by a score of 46-26 and defeated Akron in overtime 41-38 on Saturday. They will travel to play at Central Florida this weekend.

Louisville's Strong calls UNC 'a great test'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. After opening with two dominant victories, No. 19 Louisville expects a tougher test from North Carolina. The Cardinals seek their first 3-0 start since 2006, a season that culminated in their only Bowl Championship Series victory against Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl. That postseason scenario is a long way off. Louisville first wants to make sure victories against...

Strong: UNC 'outstanding challenge' for Cards

The University of Louisville football team puts a 2-0 record on the line this weekend when the Cardinals host North Carolina at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. U of L coach Charlie Strong talked about the game on Monday.

North Carolina's speed to get stiffer test

It shouldn't have come to any surprise that North Carolina's fast-break offense was seriously tested in Saturday's game at Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are dozens and dozens of notches higher up the totem pole than Elon, Carolina's opening-game opponent and 62-0 victims that day. Wake is faster, bigger, stronger, and deeper. Plus, the Deacons may have one of the...

Calvin Pryor leads Cards defense

Safety Calvin Pryor has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Cardinals defense. The sophomore is also developing a reputation for making the big play.

Nord elated he stuck with the Cardinals

University of Louisville senior tight end Nate Nord has battled injuries throughout his career but through two games he’s been a key player for the Cardinals’ offense. Cardinal Authority checks in with Nord.

Get well soon Dominique Brown

Dominique Brown has been the missing cog in the University of Louisville football team’s offense thus far, having incurred a knee injury during pre-season workouts. Coach Charlie Strong said two weeks ago he hoped Brown would be ready in two weeks. However, Brown is still day-to-day as the third week begins. Brown was the second leading rusher last season with 533 yards and tied...

Video: UNC Coach Larry Fedora Talks About Playing Louisville

North Carolina head football coach met with the media yesterday afternoon to recap the Tar-Heels 27-28 loss to Wake Forest in week two and also to discuss their week three opponent, the Louisville Cardinals. Shortly after answering a call from his dad, who was calling to tell him Happy Birthday, Fedora proceeded to discuss how his team matches up with Louisville. When asked about...

Preston Knowles Will Play Professionally In Greece This Season

Former Cardinal sharp-shooter Preston Knowles recently agreed to terms with Kao Dramas of Greece’s top level professional league. Knowles spent last season playing in the NBDL and in the Ukraine. He spent just a few weeks with SK Dnipro Azot of Ukraine’s Super League. In three games, he averaged 1.7 points in 12 minutes per game. Knowles had much more success once he joined...

Chris Jones Now A Top Priority For Rick Pitino

Sunday was the first day of the NCAA’s open contact period, where recruiters are allowed to make contact with prospects. Louisville head coach Rick Pitino has visited and made contact with more than one recruit since Sunday, but Chris Jones, a 5-foot-11 point guard at Northwest Florida State College was the first guy Coach Pitino wanted to see. Jones, a sophomore-to-be at the junior...

Louisville’s Defensive Line Will Be Put To The Test On Saturday

Photo by David Blair “This weekend we will find out exactly where we are,” Charlie Strong told the media on Monday afternoon. With convincing wins over Kentucky and Missouri State, I think the Louisville staff is confident in their team, but when North Carolina comes to town this weekend, we’ll all know a lot more about this team. No unit will be tested more than the Cardinal...

Louisville No Longer Pursuing 5-Star Point Guard Anthony “Cat” Barber

ESPN recruiting analyst Dave Telep is reporting that Louisville is no longer pursuing 5-star point guard Anthony “Cat” Barber. Barber, a 6-foot-2 Hampton, VA., native took an official visit to Louisville this past weekend and had Louisville in his final list of four. We can only assume that this means that Rick Pitino and his staff has shifted all of their attention to JUCO PG...

Video: Gorgui Dieng Adidas Nations Highlights

Ty Kish of CityLeagueHoopsTV recently uploaded a Gorgui Dieng highlight mix from the Adidas Nations event in Southern California earlier this summer. Dieng attended the event as a counselor along with teammates Peyton Siva and Wayne Blackshear. Maybe it’s because he is going up against high school prospects in some of these pick-up games, but Gorgui looks like he’s added quite...

5-Star Forward Jarrell Martin Will Receive A Visit From Louisville

Jarrell Martin, a 5-star forward from Baton Rouge, LA., is expected to receive a visit from a member of the Louisville coaching staff today. With Rick Pitino and Kevin Keatts both heading to Hargrave Military Academy, I can only assume that Louisville assistant Wyking Jones is the one who will travel to see Martin. As of last month, Martin, a 6-foot-8 hybrid forward had trimmed his...
