When the Louisville football team kicks off their season against Miami on Sept. 1, they’ll be wearing black uniforms for the first time in five years. It was pretty much assumed that Louisville would have a “blackout” for the season opener as Petrino takes the sidelines for his second stint as the head coach.
Petrino himself confirmed the news earlier this month at the ACC celebration event at Fourth Street Live. The crowd on hand erupted with excitement as seniors Jake Smith and Lorenzo Mauldin took the stage with the black unis.
The same level of excitement is now being shared throughout the world wide web. On Thursday afternoon, UofL director of athletic equipment Mike Kurowski shared a photo of the helmets on his Twitter account.

Look better, play better, right? The next month can’t get here soon enough.
