Maxwell Award Finalists:  Week 12 Performances In a tough first loss to Baylor, Kansas State QB Collin Klein was still able to find the end zone three times (two passing, one rushing).  Although Klein totaled his 34th touchdown of the season, he threw a career-high three interceptions while throwing for a career-high 50 passing attempts compared to 17 rushing attempts. Klein currently ranks second in the country with 20 rushing touchdowns, as he has 10 consecutive weeks of at least one rushing touchdown. In a commanding victory over Sam Houston State, Texas A&M Johnny Manziel displayed his dominance and exciting play completing 14 of his 20 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He didn’t stop there, Manziel also rushed for 100 yard and two touchdowns on 16 carries. This was Johnny Football’s sixth game of 100 yards or more rushing, and his ninth multi-touchdown game. The redshirt freshman has recorded over 3,000 yards passing (3,067) and 1,000 yards rushing (1,114) with 38 total touchdowns. Manziel became the fourth FBS player to log 3,000 passing and 1,000 rushing while casually breaking Texas A&M’s record for total offense in a season. For the first time in school history, Notre Dame led by their fearless LB Manti Te’o, is ranked number one in the BCS Rankings. In their win over Wake Forest, Te’o controlled the middle registering six tackles as Wake Forest totaled just 209 yards (154 passing, 55 rushing) and zero points. On the season, Te’o is closing in on 100 tackles (98) to go along with his team-leading six interceptions.  Te’o beyond stellar play has made him a Maxwell and Chuck Bednarik Award Finalist. Chuck Bednarik Award Finalists presented by Cracker Barrel: Week 12 Performances In Georgia’s blowout against Georgia Southern, LB Jarvis Jones made immediate impact in his limited time with six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. Despite missing two games, Jones has registered a team-leading 10.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. “Sackman” Jones has rightly earned his nickname and reputation as one of the best pass rushers in the nation. South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney sat out against Wofford with a right foot injury. In ten games this season Clowney has recorded 43 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, four QB hurries, and two forced fumbles. Maxwell Award Finalists: Week 13 Matchups After a walk in the park matchup against Sam Houston State, QB Johnny Manziel and the Aggies have another favorable matchup at home against Missouri. (5-6), for their very own “SEC Newcomers Bowl”.  But we can assume the Missouri defense will play tough, as they need one more win to be bowl eligible. Their defense is led by the dynamic DT Sheldon Richardson (four sacks and seven QB hurries) will look to pressure Manziel and force him to make plays.  Luckily for the Aggies, Manizel is at his best when stressed, and can make the Tigers defense immediately pay. Manziel just needs two more touchdowns to join Dan Lefevour and Colin Kaepernick for players to have 3,000 passing yards, 1,000 rushing yards and 40 or more touchdowns. Manti Te’o and the Fighting Irish will face USC in their last obstacle of their historical undefeated season. USC will not have their leader Matt Barkley, and he will be replaced by redshirt Max Wittek who will have explosive wide outs Marqise Lee and Robert Woods at his disposable. Te’o will see a lot of TE Xavier Grimble and running backs Curtis McNeil and Silas Redd. Te’o will once again flawlessly patrol the middle in hopes of breaking 100 tackles for the 3rd consecutive year and more importantly reaching the BCS Bowl. Chuck Bednarik Award Finalists presented by Cracker Barrel: Week 13 Matchups Jarvis Jones should have a field day going up against Georgia Tech and their triple option offense. Jones will face QB Tevin Washington and RB Orwin Smith who have combined for 23 rushing touchdowns. Jones will look to disrupt the option as he needs two more tackles for loss to reach 20, breaking his career high of 19.5, and one more forced fumble to gain the lead for first in the nation. South Carolina face a tall order against the lethal Clemson offense. Jadeveon Clowney will look to take down Tajh Boyd who has been sacked a respectful 20 times in 11 games. Needing just 1.5 sacks to reach double digits, Clowney has the rare combination of size, speed and athleticism to upset Boyd and the Tigers on the road. -Schotz
