Memphis Nose Tackle Dontari Poe has declared for the 2012 NFL Draft. The junior has decided to skip his senior season with his stock being as high as it is. At the beginning of the season not to many people knew about Poe. He was a hidden gem at Memphis that many had yet to hear about. With his size though Poe started the season strong and the word got around. Now he is touted as a first round draft pick.
Poe is the number 1 Nose Tackle on the board no matter who else comes out. Poe is 6’5, 350 pounds. He is prototypical of what you would want in a 3-4 Nose Tackle. He is a large run stuffer who clogs the middle of the field. He is strong at the point of attack and can take up a double team. He is athletic for his size but he is not Casey Hampton or Vince Wilfork athletic.
If I had to compare someone to Poe it would be Terrance Cody of the Baltimore Ravens. He is that type of player. Disruptive but not extremely dominant. Now I would love to have Cody on the Steele...
