CaneInsider.com just confirmed with the Miami Athletics Department that safety Ray-Ray Armstrong will not travel this weekend for the Florida State game but will sit out.

The University of Miami released the following statement about the incident:

Ray Ray Armstrong has been held out of all Miami Football activities this week due to violation of team rules. He is not on the travel roster for Florida State.

"Ray Ray is suspended for breaking team rules and will not be with us this weekend," said Al Golden on Hurricane Hotline tonight.

Armstrong missed the first five games this season as part of NCAA suspensions for players who received improper benefits. After coming back from the suspension, Armstrong was only one of two players who did not immediately earn back their starting job.

Since then, Armstrong has recorded 15 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, .5 TFL, 1 INT, 2 PBU, and a fumble recovery in what some are saying is a down year for the junior. A dynamic player last year, Armstrong has struggled to get back in a rhythm since missing games.

Armstrong not playing this weekend doesn't put Miami at a major disadvantage, despite what some people are saying. In fact, the Miami analysts at CaneInsider.com say it could be a benefit for the Canes. The assumed replacement will be JoJo Nicolas who is said to be "less talented, more disciplined, more reliable."

We'll see how it affects the game come Saturday.
