Found October 21, 2012 on The Majors Detroit:
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke has certainly done a lot to finally move the Michigan program in the right direction once again. Last season he was able to finally end the team’s long losing streak to Ohio State, accumulating a winning record and ultimately get to a BCS bowl game at the end of the season. Heading into 2012 Brady Hoke surely wants to capitalize on last season’s successes along with accomplishing a few more goals. One of those goals would be ending the Wolverines’ four year losing streak to in State rival Michigan State which he did Saturday afternoon with a 12-10 win from The Big House. The win came via a Brendan Gibbons 38 yard field goal in final seconds of the fourth quarter to seal the victory. But this wasn’t just a big rivalry win for the Wolverines, it was the programs 900th further cementing their claim as college football’s winningest program. Now Michigan will nonetheless set their sights on the Big Ten Championship game and the Rose Bowl. THE MAJORS ANN ARB...

Michigan Football recruiting update: Denzel Ward commits

Michigan Football picked up their second commitment from the 2014 class on Saturday. Mammoth offensive linemen Denzel Ward (Chicago, Illinois) committed. He joins Michael Ferns as the only other member of Michigan’s 2014 class.2013 commit Logan Tuley-Tillman probably deserves an assist on this commitment as he struck up a friendship with Ward and became an extra recruiter for the Wolverines.

He’s Back! The Michigan Governor’s Paul Bunyan Trophy In Perspective

Michigan Wolverines celebrate with the Paul Bunyan trophy for the first time in 5 years after their 12-10 victory over the Spartans on Saturday (Image/MGoBlue.com)As I polish the Governor of Michigan’s Paul Bunyan trophy, I realize two things: 1) This is an ugly trophy, and 2) Saturday’s win was just as ugly on many levels. As I predicted last week, the Spartans brought everything...

Brady Hoke predicts Michigan St.-Michigan to be "bloody your nose" football.

What kind of game does Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke expects Saturday's Michigan State-Michigan confrontation to be like. One thing is for sure is that he expects it to be "bloody." “When you play against spread teams, you’re playing a little bit more of a finesse football game,” he said Wednesday night on the “Inside Michigan Football”...

Order restored: Michigan Football edges past Spartans

Michigan Football restored order in a series that had run amok on them the past 4 years with a 12-10 victory over Michigan State. The win snapped a 4-game winning streak for MSU in the rivalry, gave Michigan their 900th career victory, and brought the Paul Bunyan Trophy back home. I’ll start off by saying I was way off in predicting a 38-13 win. It was tough sledding on offense...

Michigan vs Michigan State 2012 edition

The 23/25 ranked Michigan Wolverines will host their in-state rivals from Michigan State on Saturday afternoon at the Big House. The game has been declared a maize out by the University of Michigan and thus every fan that walks through the turnstiles will receive a maize pom pon. The two teams enter the game on very different trajectories. The Wolverines have found their groove behind...

Friday Focus: Michigan Quarterback Denard “Shoelace” Robinson

Cue the dramatic music.  It’s the day before “The Big Game”.  And contrary to popular belief, this game is a HUGE rivalry, and due to the new B1G alignment, most years it will be THE most important game on the schedule.Yep, I said it.  The landscape has changed and so must the mindset of the fans.  Bo and Woody are unfortunately no longer with us.  I have seen the...

Michigan Wins Despite MSU's Shiny Shenanigans

For the first time in the career of Michigan's seniors they can finally say they've beaten little brother and brought home the Paul Bunyan Trophy after a 12-10 hard fought victory at Michigan Stadium. Usually it's the senior class that keys these types of victories and that's exactly what QB Denard Robinson did as he led an 8 play 41 yard drive to set up the game...

Your College Football Weekend: Week 8

RUSHED TO PRINT… Trey’s Trey Games of the Week… (1) #7 South Carolina @ #3 Florida…Florida is riding a early 1980s Atari font surge of electronic and calculated praise from the computers. South Carolina finishes a brutal stretch of games that shipped them to Baton Rouge and Gainesville in back to back weeks. Injuries plague [...]

New Michigan State helmet leaked prior to rivalry game with Michigan

Last season, the Michigan State Spartans wore Nike Pro Combat uniforms in their game against rival Michigan, and while the uniforms were loved by many of the players, fans and alumni didn’t seem entirely too keen on them. The Spartans are once again planning to wear something new. We received word earlier today that we [...]

Q&A With MGoBlog

Yes, Michigan. Will Gholston is coming for you. Most of you guys read (and possibly hate) MGoBlog, a Michigan Wolverines blog. Although, I’m a Michigan State fan, I respect this blog and the writer answering these questions, Brian. Without further adieu, here’s the Q&A. Go Green. —————– 1.) Was this season, up to this point, what you expected from Michigan? Fairly...

Michigan 12 – Michigan State 10: Order restored as Bunyan returns

For the past four years the Paul Bunyan trophy has resided in East Lansing. Tonight the rightful owners of this storied trophy have brought him back to Ann Arbor, where he belongs. Michigan State has recently enjoyed the upper hand in the rivalry, though wins against Rich Rod’s inept ‘defenses’ don’t really count in my book, but Michigan has regained some of its swagger and...

My 5 Takes From Michigan State

A celebration, 5 years in the making. As the clock struck all zeros after Michigan State's failed attempt at a lateral-a-thon on the final play, 4 seasons of in-state misery melted away in a jubilant celebration for the Michigan football team. It was chaos on the field after the game. But as always, the team ended up in the northwest corner of the field, to celebrate with...

Michigan State First Half Thoughts

• The crowd filtered in a little late, probably due to the long lines to get into the sections. The student section, once again failed to fill in completely at all. But noise-wise, easily one of the loudest crowds I've heard here. • The all-important rushing stat, UM 60 MSU 25. The winner in this series has led in rushing 39 of the last 42 games. • Michigan's...

Bielfeldt joined by his friends

Michigan redshirt freshman forward Max Bielfeldt is looking to contribute this season. He talks about playing AAU ball with Mitch McGary (and Glenn and Spike), and about a 2-post versus a 4-guard offense.

Wolverines back to work after defeating Spartans

The Spartans have been beaten. Now Michigan can get serious. Beating Michigan State 12-10 was a huge step forward for the Wolverines, but not just because it ended a record-tying four-year losing streak. The win also put Michigan on top of the Legends Division as they go for their first berth in the Big Ten Championship Game (televised by FOX). "It's a great rivalry game...
