David Dawson Michigan Football recruiting update: The Michigan coaches were in school with David Dawson (Detroit, Michigan) this week and subsequent to that visit they have re-offered him a scholarship. Dawson, who seemed to regret spurning the Wolverines for his Florida visit last month, is likely to make an official visit to U-M on December 14th. Dawson is ranked #87 overall and the #1 offensive guard according to ESPNU. He is also planning trips to Ohio State, Michigan State and Alabama. When the dust settles on this, I think he ends up re-committing to Michigan. With the de-commitment of Gareon Conley, Brady Hoke and his staff have another scholarship to work with as they round out the 2013 class. Michigan has recently offered two 2013 offensive linemen; Cameron Hunt (Corona, Calif./Centennial) and Kenny Lacy (Phoenix/Mountain Pointe). Cameron Hunt is a 6-foot-4, 267 pound offensive tackle. He is a 4-star recruit and ranked the #13 OT by ESPNU. Hunt is currently committed to Cal Kenny Lacy is  a 6-foot-6, 270 pound offensive tackle. He is a 4-star recruit and ranked the #17 OT by rivals.com. Lacy is currently committed to UCLA Michigan coaches were out at Crete Monee High School in Illinois this week to check in on Laquon Treadwell. He is ranked the #1 WR in the country by rivals and ESPNU and ranked #23 overall by rivals.com. Michigan was once the clear leader for Treadwell, but they now seem to be playing catch up. While the Michigan coaches were at Crete Monee they extended an offer to 2014 linebacker Nyles Morgan. Derrick Green is considered the #1 running back in the country by rivals.com and remains a priority for the Wolverines. His top six schools are, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, Auburn and Oregon.  Green has already taken official visits to Tennessee, Michigan and Auburn, and is still deciding where his 2 remaining official visits will be. On Tuesday Michigan coaches Fred Jackson and Jerry Montgomery stopped by Richmond, Virginia to visit with Green. If Michigan doesn’t land Green, expect them to make a push to flip Northwestern commit Godwin Igwebuike. The 6-foot, 190 running back is from the same high school, Pickerington North, as Jake Butt (Michigan commit), and is considered a 4-star recruit by ESPNU. Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Florida) enjoyed his Michigan visit a few weeks ago, but the Wolverines seem to be lagging behind USC, Florida State and Vanderbilt in their quest to sign the nations #2 safety prospect. Michigan coaches recently offered Michigan State commit Jon Reschke (Birmingham, Michigan), but the linebacker appears to be content to stick with the Spartans. Perhaps his close friend, Shane Morris, will have something to say about that before signing day. Michael Ferns (St. Clairsville, Ohio): Ferns is a 6-foot-3, 235 pound linebacker and one of the top prospects in the state of Ohio. Denzel Ward (Chicago, Illinois): Ward is a mammoth 6-foot-9, 295 offensive tackle who just completed his first season of organized football. Two instate recruits that Michigan covets are Damon Webb (Detroit Cass Tech) and Tommy Doles (Grand Rapids Christian). Webb is an outstanding cornerback and has been to Michigan on numerous occasions. Doles is a highly regarded offensive tackle and, like Webb, he has been to Michigan multiple times.
