The Michigan Wolverines football team took a big, self-induced hit yesterday, and it will hinder their chances of beating Alabama later today. Still, it was the right decision. Brady Hoke elected to suspend running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and defensive end Frank Clark for Saturday’s showdown against the defending national champion. Michigan running back Fitzgerald Toussaint will miss Saturday’s showdown with Alabama. (Image by US Presswire via CBSSports.com) Toussaint recently pled guilty to operating a vehicle while visually impaired (blood alcohol level was over the legal limit), while Clark has been charged with second-degree home invasion. Clark is a rotational defensive end, so his impact may not be game-changing. Toussaint, however, is a huge loss for Brady Hoke and company, as he rushed for over 1,000 yards with 9 touchdowns last season. That was despite not really taking full control of the starting running back position until the fifth or sixth game either. By suspending...

Alabama Football analyst weighs in on the Michigan game

Alabama Football analyst John Mitchell from Bama Hammer stopped by to answer a few questions about the big game. 1. What worries you most about playing Michigan? It’s always worrisome to play a team as good as Michigan on the opening weekend. Despite our best guesses, we never know what a team is going to look like in a new season. My biggest concern is Michigan’s ability...

The only real offense Michigan was able to muster was a 71 yard pass from Robinson to Jeremy Gallon which set up a six yard TD run for...

#2 Alabama 41 – #8 Michigan 14: Tide sweeps Michigan out to sea

Despite forcing Alabama into a three-and-out on its first series and looking like they could be formidable opponent, the Michigan defense was completely overmatched the rest of the night. They did record two sacks (and Will Campbell was looking quite nimble on his) but they were dominated up front by the best offensive line in the country. Alabama's defense gave Michigan no room...

Quick question: Seeing as both offenses took place in July, what took so long to come to a decision on this? Smells like a little gamesmanship. Nick...
