There is a lot on the line for Missouri Tigers football coach Gary Pinkel this upcoming season. After finishing with a 5-7 record and missing a bowl game during the team’s first season in the SEC, Pinkel needs to have a big year to turn the Mizzou program around and get it heading back in a positive direction.
Unfortunately, some news regarding Pinkel’s top recruit of his 2013 class won’t help matters. According to PowerMizzou.com, four-star recruit Chase Abbington out of Fort Zumwalt South High School in St. Peters, Missouri will enroll at a JUCO instead.
Abbington was the only four-star recruit Pinkel landed in this past year’s recruiting class, considered to be the worst in the SEC by some, which does not bode well for the future of the Tigers.
Even though Pinkel was able to grab the No. 1 rated recruit the prior year in Dorial Green-Beckham, he was unable to build on that momentum and put together a recruiting class that rivals the likes of the other SEC powers.
