There have not been many surprises this year for Michigan State on the recruiting trail and as expected the Spartans picked up verbal commitments from 3-star wide receiver Monty Madaris (Cincinnati, OH) and 4-star safety Demetrious Cox (Jeanette, PA) only a few days prior to National Signing Day. Madaris, who is the the No. 54 wideout in the nation according to Rivals.com, chose the Spartans over Cincinnati on Sunday night. The Moeller High School standout also had offers from Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska and Florida State among others. "I called them giving them a commitment yesterday," Madaris said Sunday night. The 6'2", 190 pound pass catcher hauled in 56 receptions, 1,137 yards along with 16 touchdowns in his senior season.
