Midwest Sports Fans:
The first leg in my four-week college football road trip sponsored by La Quinta featured a lot of history.
Unfortunately for the 2012 Oklahoma Sooners and their fans, the history that was made on Saturday night was of the ignominious kind as the 6th-ranked Sooners lost 24-19 to the 15th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats.
How rare was Oklahoma’s whimper of a performance in front of the home crowd under current head coach Bob Stoops? It was just the fourth time a Stoops-coached Sooners team has lost at home.
My little bro Bryce and I picked a heck of a week to come, huh?
I have many fun photos and anecdotes to share from a fantastic weekend in Norman, and share I will. But before we get to the photo diary, a quick recap of the actual game.
Oklahoma-Kansas State Game Recap
Though it wasn’t the prettiest game to watch, any football game looks great from the seats Bryce and I watched from.
Here was our vantage point, right on the 50-yard line.
Like idiots, Bryce and I went to the w...
BEST OF MAXIM
College football fans are the best, aren’t they?
Our friend Jerod Morris of Midwest Sports Fans is doing a four-week college football road trip sponsored by La Quinta (which is sponsoring this post), and his first stop was in Norman last weekend to watch Oklahoma lose to Kansas State.
In his recap of the game, (and he has plenty of cool pics and videos for you to check out),...
After the Oklahoma Sooners’ 24-19 defeat to Kansas State on Saturday, I got to briefly revel in the awesomeness that is Collin Klein before finding myself in the position of defending OU quarterback Landry Jones. Midwest Sports Fans’ Jerod Morris took himself a road trip to Norman to watch the game and mentioned how some OU fans were calling for four-year starting senior Jones...
Coming into Saturday night's match-up with the Kansas State Wildcats, it had all the makings of a game that Oklahoma typically dominates.
This is not a typical Oklahoma team.
Kansas State's 24-19 upset win marked Bob Stoops' first home loss to a ranked team. Prior to the game, OU was 16-4 coming off of a bye under Stoops. The Sooners had lost to Kansas State...
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones thinks the Sooners are still in the national championship race, although he acknowledges he'll have to play better for them to have a chance.
Jones has accepted most of the blame for No. 16 Oklahoma's 24-19 home loss to Kansas State on Saturday, after he fumbled to give the Wildcats one touchdown and threw a momentum-killing interception...
NORMAN, Okla. — Sooners Illustrated caught up with quarterback Landry Jones to get his thoughts on his struggles the other night and what has to change.
Landry Jones came back for his senior season with No. 6 Oklahoma in part because he wanted one last chance to chase a national championship.
That chance could already be in jeopardy, and Jones knows he's a big reason why.
John Hubert ran for 130 yards and a touchdown, Jarell Childs scored on a 1-yard fumble return off of one of Jones' two turnovers and No. 15 Kansas State...
Oklahoma and Landry Jones- This seems to be a yearly thing for the Oklahoma Sooners. They come into the season highly rated but falter early in the season. This season that lost was to Kansas State (24-19). KSU is a very good team but still you are Oklahoma you shouldn’t lose these games especially at home. In fact this was Bob Stoop’s first lost at home to a ranked...
Landry Jones critical mistakes against the Kansas State Wildcats show the senior’s season hopes of a championship are just too far-reaching. Jones’ first turnover came near his own goal line, when he was hit by K-State’s Justin Tuggle which jarred free the ball allowing the Cats to pick up a 7-3 lead and most of the momentum for the rest of the game.Jones is not solely to...
Although the rankings told us that this game would be close, recent history would have suggested that No. 6 Oklahoma would win this match up and that the Sooners would win big. Oklahoma dominated the last five meetings, averaging wins of 22 points per game, including the 58-17 massacre in Manhattan, KS last year. But this is a different Wildcats team ...and a different Sooners...
NORMAN, Okla. — Head coach Bob Stoops reviewed his team's upset loss to Kansas State, and Sooners Illustrated has all the coverage.
Kansas State QB Collin Klein picked up 228 yards of total offense and absolutely s*** on the OU crowd with a late touchdown to defeat the Trash QB Sooners Landry Jones this Saturday night.
So tell me Sooners fans, is Oklahoma (2-1, 0-1 Big 12) better than Kansas State (4-0, 1-0) ? By the looks of Sofia Vergara’s boobs I would say no.
With just two conference games in the books, the pecking order in the Big 12 has been shaken up.
Kansas State's 24-19 upset of preseason Big 12 favorite Oklahoma on Saturday night vaulted the Wildcats (4-0, 1-0) ahead as one of the league's new front-runners for the championship. It has the Sooners (2-1, 0-1) in the rare position of playing from behind, after losing their...
After a bye week that hopefully has given key players in Joe Bergeron and Jordan Hicks an opportunity to heal from injuries, the days are counting down before Texas treks to Stillwater, Oklahoma and an early-conference showdown against Mike Gundy's Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Once upon a time this series was decidedly in favor of the (burnt) orange as Texas won games going away...
Dancing in the Ruins
We're in the same boat on the same sea, and we're sailing south on the same breeze.
After Oklahoma's loss to Kansas State on Saturday, the Sooners find themselves in the same position as USC with dwindling chances of winning a BCS title this season. (Dr. Saturday)
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones takes the blame for the Sooners...
We knew nothing substantial about Oklahoma after two games. Needless to say, the intel after the Kansas State game is not good.
*Sterling Shepard looks every bit like the star many folks thought he would be. Give Heupel some credit for putting him into the game to give Landry Jones two slot-like targets. He made plays when KSU tried to take away Kenny Stills...
