Midwest Sports Fans:
It’s time now to turn the page.
If you read the recap of my recent trip to Lincoln, Nebraska – the second leg of the MSF-La Quinta College Football Road Trip – you know how much fun I had spending the weekend with one of my favorite people in what is now one of my favorite college towns.
And this came on the heels of a similarly great weekend in Norman, Oklahoma with my little bro Bryce.
The big difference between Weeks 1 and 2 of the #LaQuintaTrip is that Week 1 was almost all about the football game itself (we had incredible 50-yard line seats for an epic Big 12 upset) while Week 2 was about everything that surrounded the football game.
Week 3, this weekend in Austin, Texas, will be about both.
Matthew McConaghey thinks this is the most exciting stop on the MSF-La Quinta College Football Road Trip. It’d be hard to top #8 v #11 under the lights in Darrell K. Royal Stadium. (Image credit: Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images via B/R)
And my, my what a gave we’ll get to watch: West ...
BEST OF MAXIM
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- It's tough to identify the most impressive thing about West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith's game on Saturday, when he led his team to a win over Baylor in the Mountaineers' first conference tilt as a member of the Big 12.
Most might say it was the sheer absurdity of his stat line, and oh, was it one to behold. Unabated by a Bears defense that let...
With a dominant performance that included 656 passing yards and eight touchdowns, West Virginia’s Geno Smith has earned Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week honors. Smith’s record-breaking afternoon helped guide the Mountaineers to a 70-63 win over the Baylor Bears.
While leading his team to their inaugural Big 12 Conference victory, the senior was nearly unstoppable...
The last time Texas faced a leading Heisman Trophy contender, coach Mack Brown told his defense ''Don't let him win it against you.''
How'd that work out? Baylor's Robert Griffin III passed for two touchdowns, ran for two more and one week later accepted the trophy in New York.
''They handed it to him at halftime,'' Brown said.

This weekend is loaded with premier BCS-caliber football games and this is another one you better not miss.
Geno Smith is coming off one of the greatest performances in the BCS era, throwing for 8 TD and 656 yards. The Baylor defense is nowhere near as good as the Longhorns, so this matchup will be electric to watch.
Think essentially Clemson-Florida...
What if No. 8 West Virginia and No. 11 Texas played Saturday and decided not to bring their defenses?
At the rate those two have been giving up big plays for touchdowns, would it really matter?
The Mountaineers (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) needed every one of quarterback Geno Smith's eight touchdown passes in last week's 70-63 win over Baylor that left its defense looking as bad as...
Defenses, Couches Torched in MorgantownIt’s pretty amazing the scoreboard at Milan Puskar Stadium is still functioning after No. 9 West Virginia’s 70-63 shootout victory over No. 25 Baylor on Saturday.
Equally amazing was the electric atmosphere in a game for the ages. In an

unprecedented initiative for the university, the West Virginia crowd...
The college football season has completed roughly a third of their games and it’s time to start figuring out who the Heisman contenders are. While I would like to be fair all the other contenders, as of right now the Heisman is Geno Smiths to lose. Smith has looked impressive in all four of West Virginia games. His stats are ridiculous and this past weekend he seemed video...
Since the college football schedule was announced many months ago, several looked to Week 6 as one of the defining ones of the season. Several key games dot the schedule, including two SEC showdowns which could eventually determine not only this conference, but also the National Championship race as well, in addition to West Virginia’s first road trip in the Big XII.
And on Wednesday...
In 2011, the NCAA Football world was talking about a quarterback from the Pac 12 conference, a running back from Oregon and a player who does not tie his shoelaces. None of them won the Heisman Trophy. Entering 2012, the pundits were once again talking about a top quarterback from the Pac 12, a running back from Oregon and a quarterback who does not tie his shoelaces. And once again...
You made it through Week 5 of college football? Fear not because Week 6 has much better games on the slate, including the College Gameday match-up between #5 Georgia and #6 South Carolina. Can Spurrier win what is arguably the biggest game as SC head coach? The ***** are coming in as 2 point favorites…take the Bulldogs +2 and thank us later. FOX might have the game of the week...
No. 7 West Virginia at No. 9 Texas
Saturday, 7:00 PM Fox
Line: West Virginia – 6.5
The Mountaineers and Longhorns clash in a top ten Big 12 matchup that will help to separate the conference’s elite from the upper-middle class. We know West Virginia can put points up in bunches and Texas is no slouch, but let’s talk defense (or lack thereof).
